OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER (OCD)
Program Details
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that individuals feel driven to perform. These obsessions and compulsions can cause significant distress and interfere with daily life and relationships. Common obsessions may include fears of contamination, doubts about safety, or intrusive thoughts, while compulsions often involve rituals like repetitive hand washing, checking, or counting.

The program will offer:

Assess the severity of symptoms using standardized tools and evaluate co-occurring conditions (e.g., depression, anxiety disorders).
Provide psychoeducation about OCD, and its symptoms.
Discuss the role of obsessions and compulsions in maintaining the disorder.
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) involves gradually exposing the individual to feared objects or thoughts (exposure) while preventing the associated compulsive behavior (response prevention). This helps reduce anxiety and the urge to perform compulsions over time.
Cognitive Restructuring will help individuals identify and challenge distorted beliefs related to their obsessions and compulsions.
Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) encourages individuals to be present at the moment and reduces engagement with obsessive thoughts.
Therapy helps individuals with OCD learn to challenge their obsessive thoughts, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and regain control over their lives.
